Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 Books with a Vacation

Would you look at that it is Tuesday again, which means it is time for another Top 5 Tuesday.

And I have had quite a bit of fun with this prompt this week. I would love to be able to go take some of the trips that I have been dreaming of since they all got canceled back in 2020, fingers crossed we will be able to get out there soon. But in the mean time, we as good readers know that the next best thing to an actual vacation is getting to travel in a book.

I have also read a surprising number of books with trips in them recently, I did not plan this but it has worked out nicely.

1. Book Lovers by Emily Henry

You aren’t tired of me raving about this book yet are you? Good, because it is amazing and it is absolutely a summer vacation, small town adventure. (I swear I am in fact working on my review which should be up soon).

2. The Guncle by Steven Rowley

This book was really so adorable, and it is a vacation for the two little kids in Palm Springs with their Uncle, complete with pool. The kids are really cute, and would be a great pick for Pride as well.

3. I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn

This book was such a pleasant surprise, I didn’t have too many expectations going in and it ended up being so good, this is some of the best Contemporary YA Romance that I have read in a long time. Kimi goes on vacation over spring break to Kyoto to visit her grandparents. I was supposed to go to Japan in 2020 and it is probably the destination I most dream about going right now, Kyoto in particular is somewhere I really want to go.

4. Embassy Row Novels by Ally Carter

Yeah, it has been a little while since I talked about these books. These books begin with Grace going to visit her Grandfather in Adria (a fictional european country), I don’t know that they actually describe it as a vacation but it has the vacation feel, summer on the Mediterranean. I am planning to re-read this series soon.

5. Four Seasons in Rome by Anthony Doerr

A year in Rome, sounds like a great vacation right? I actually just found a copy of this book a the Little Free Library yesterday so it has been on my mind. This is a slim memoir about his time in Rome with his family working on a book (if I recall correctly the book he is working on is All The Light We Cannot See).

Happy Reading Everyone!
