Happy Tuesday fellow book nerds, and you all know what that means it is time for another top 5 Tuesday.
Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at the Bionic Book Worm and is now hosted by Meeghan at the Meeghan Reads. This weeks topic is: Top 5 Hyped Books I Love. And seriously I could have picked about 20 books (I almost put House in the Cerulean Sea on too but decided I would give it a break for now) but these are the titles I settled on.
1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
I had to include Harry, even if I have been having a hard time making it through them recently, they are on the very top of my favorite books of all time list and a big part of why I love reading. These books may just be the king of all hyped books (and I a talking about the original 7 not all the tie ins and that), I certainly can’t think of another book series that had midnight releases, and for good reason I am almost a bit sad that kids growing up now will not get to experience reading these books when they came out, it really was incredible and so unique to be reading with what seemed like just about everyone.
2. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
It wasn’t just me that was hearing about this everywhere when it came out was it? I had been a bit skeptical that I would like this book before I read it, or to be more specific that I would like it as much as the glowing reviews were saying I would. But I did, I really enjoyed it. I may have been a bit behind on getting to this book but I am so glad that I did read it and even more so because it got me to read Anxious People when it came out and I enjoyed that one even more.
3. Aurora Cycle by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Who would have guessed I would have pick this series right? I had been seeing these books all over Bookstagram for weeks before I picked them up (I think it was right when Aurora Burning came out) and the track record of getting recs that way is a bit of a mixed bag. But yeah these books are amazing, just the sort of books I look for, no I am still mad about the ending of AB but we only have a few more months to wait so hopefully I will be ready to forgive them when I get the third book.
4. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett
I adore this book so much and it feels like it is kind of everywhere in the fantasy book world (and Gaiman and Pratchett in general), especially when the show came out (speaking of, did you hear that they are doing a second season, to which I say yayayay! and then how? you already did the whole book). I had read several other Gaiman books before I read this and I had been rather disappointed in them if I am honest, a bit too dark for me I think. But this book it had been the book I had been hoping for and I am so glad I decided to read it when I did (and it is always good for a re-read too).
5. Beach Read by Emily Henry
Oh this book was so amazing, I just finished it on Sunday and it really was as good as all the buzz last summer, I actually hugged the book when I finished, and had no trouble whatsoever getting through the print rather than the audio. I would say I wish I had read it last summer but I actually think right now was a great time to read it, and let’s be honest it would be impossible to get to all the books you want to right when they come out. So thanks, Anne for putting it on the Summer Reading Guide last year and talking about her new book this year cause that is really what got me to read this one.
Happy Reading Everyone!
