I bet you were expecting this to be the 3 week countdown… yeah me too.
So, here is the update, the ILFF has been called off for this year and has been postponed until march of next year courtesy of the novel Coronavirus. So, we will not be going to Japan in three weeks but we will be going next year. The good news is we were able to reschedule the venue for the same weekend next year so the festival has only been postponed and not canceled. For more info on the festival or to read the announcement visit lowflutesfestival.org.
So yes I am a disappointed but I am choosing to look on the bright side. I really enjoy trip planning and I have never felt so unprepared for a big trip before, so this gives me a chance to really enjoy the planning.
In that light, I think that this post I had been planning on sources of travel inspiration is perhaps even more appropriate.
What I am reading (or am thinking of reading)
I have been on a bit of a Manga reading kick so far this year. I got the first two volumes of the Sword Art Online (SAO) Manga versions at the library book sale last year and I have been reading through them, I just finished the Fairy Dance Arc earlier this week. I originally found the series on Netflix, the show is on my list to post about, and I have now read several different versions of SAO, manga and light novels.
I am also reading the most recent volume of Yona of the Dawn (Vol 19), probably my favorite manga series. More about Yona of the Dawn and other Fantasy Books I Love.
I also just checked out Love in Focus, vol. 1 by Yoko Nogiri after I saw this review on the 24hryabookblog, I just started it last night and I like it so far.
I just put a hold on Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, thanks to @readingladies_book_club on Instagram for the recommendation.
Also on my list is The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell which I have owned for years but haven’t gotten around to reading yet. This seems to be a perennial problem for me, the books I own just sit around unread because, unlike all the books I get from the library. they don’t have a due date.
What I am thinking of Watching
I have been thinking about going back and watching some of my favorite Miyazaki films, I keeps seeing Totoro all over my Instagram feed. My favorite is Howl’s Moving Castle and before you ask, yes I have read the book.
I just recently joined Instagram, finally I know, and I have been enjoying it a lot.
I have been having fun searching for great travel photography on Insta. Here are a few of the travel hashtags I am following for inspiration.
Personally, I have been posting a bunch of book and travel photos. I have literally thousands of photos from trips, mostly from Europe, and I will be posting more of my favorites soon. I swear eventually there will be photos from Japan. You can follow me on Instagram @robin.c.pope.
